When I was in Rio de Janeiro covering the Fashion Rio Summer 2014 I received an irresistible invitation: have lunch at the Restaurant “Aprazível” (the literal translation would be “Pleasant”).
I had heard only good things about this restaurant, but I wanted to discover personally what was so special about this place, after all, like so many others, it offers Brazilian food.
We eat Brazilian food all the time, made by our mothers or by our grandparents, we are demanding, after all which food is better than the one made by our mothers??
Upon reaching the restaurant I’ve loved the atmosphere at the first glance – a beautiful place surrounded by the nature, a lots of green, lots of birds and butterflies, using few words – a lovely place!!

As we were only 2 persons (my husband and I), We chose a table for two in a corner that had a beautiful view and we started to explore the menu.

Since it was a Brazilian food restaurant, we have asked for a Brazilian wine too. While choosing, we ordered a basket “pão de queijo com linguiça mineira grelhada” (a kind of bread made of cheese filled with grilled sausage) … yummy…. a delight, but I could only eat two of them as I want to keep fit!

As we are good cooks, my husband and I went to visited the kitchen and chat with the Chef. And of course we took advantage of the visit to see the dishes that coming out, so it would be easier to choose our meal!

My choice was the “Peixe Tropical” (a salt water grilled tropical fish, served with orange sauce, coconut rice with cashew nuts and roasted banana)

My husband’s choice was “Moquequinha do Rio” (a fish cooked in a delicious sauce of natural coconut milk, accompanied by white rice and “farofinha” – spiced corn flour).
But I’ll be honest here: I just think it lacked a bit of spice, but that is because I’m used to the authentic “Moquequinha” from Bahia – if you ever try the authentic “Moquequinha” in Bahia you will always be dissatisfied with others!

And to finish this our delicious lunch, my husband asked for a dessert, I did not ordered dessert, again because I want to keep my shape, but I confess I tried a little bit of my husband’s dessert.
The dessert choice was the “Banana Santa Teresa” (baked banana with cinnamon and sugar, served with vanilla ice cream and chopped almonds).

Who lives in Rio de Janeiro must visit this restaurant, and if you are not from Rio, the next time you visit the wonderful city be sure to savor the delights of “Aprazível”.
Kisses!
